The Large Format Group is a collaborative photography project based in Brattleboro, Vermont and Portland, Oregon. Our idea is that making large-format staged pictures with others is a fun way to stay involved with photography, share ideas, costs, different talents, and motivate each other. We hope that creating art, as a community, will fuel our own individual work; as well as producing unique cooperative results. Our photographs are often whimsical, mysteries, playful, and have a sense of a shared adventure. Our influences include: Jeff Wall, Gregory Crewdson, Tom Hunter, Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison, Virginia Beahan and Laura McPhee, Justine Kurland, Sally Mann, and more. Because we work in a group participating in the LFG does not necessarily mean being behind (or in front) of the camera, there are many ways to contribute.
